Since WordPress doesn’t track views by default this had to be a plugin.
This is the Yuzo ̵ ̵ ̵ Related Posts plugin. The reason you were seeing 0 for views is because when you first click on Posts you’re looking at All posts which just so happen to have Drafts at the top at the moment that have never been published, therefore wouldn’t have any views yet.
Simply click on Published and you’ll see your view stats are still working.
Additionally, it looks like you have 3 Google Analytics plugins installed. You should choose just one and remove the others.
Thank you.
Fixed.
There was an error in your CSS and “Custom Styles & Custom CSS” wasn’t turned on.
For this issue as well as the other, at this point it my be best if we got in and had a look.
With your permission, we ask that you please email us your WP admin login info:
https://startupwp.com/contact/
Thank you.
Doesn’t look like the CSS is being applied.
After adding code make sure to clear all caches, specifically if you’re using a WordPress caching plugin.
How were you tracking views, a plugin?
We recommend setting up Google Analytics:
http://www.google.com/analytics/
Would you like us to walk you through installing?
1. Log into your WP admin.
2. From the main menu on the left, navigate to:
Appearance > StartupPro Options > Advanced Editing > Custom CSS
3. Paste in:
.wp-caption { width: 100% !important; }
4. Click “Save Options”.
You might try:
.wp-caption { width: 100% !important; }
You’re welcome.
Here’s the complete code that appears in that page/post:
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 650px" id="attachment_412"><a href="http://www.beyondthechickencoop.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chopped-Chicken-Salad.jpg"><img width="640" height="480" alt="Oriental Chopped Chicken Salad" src="http://www.beyondthechickencoop.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Chopped-Chicken-Salad.jpg" class="size-full wp-image-412"></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Oriental Chopped Chicken Salad</p></div>
Removing
style="width: 650px"
should be good enough. In responsive design you want to avoid setting fixed pixel widths.
Appearance > StartupPro Options > Advanced Editing > Footer Scripts > Paste in Your Code > Click “Save Options”
Yes, we’ve taken appropriate action against any company who’s created this problem for our brand and consumers in the marketplace. We cannot discuss specific companies or specific details, but know that we’ve done our due diligence.
We’ve reported trademark infringement where possible and done the best we can to protect our mark from abuses like this:
http://www.trademarkia.com/startup-86058407.html
Yes, we’re also aware that our products are vastly different from those that have copied our product name, but are still close enough to cause confusion. It’s like a tennis shoe and high heel being branded with the same name. They’re both clearly different at first glance, but on paper are still both footwear which is very specific and will cause confusion. As such, since the products are unique, if you put your product out after a similar product which has already taken a name you like it would be wise to find another name. Choosing to neglect this is where problems begin to arise.
On the internet, the problems are more concerned with infringers stealing traffic away from the official product on Google and for technical issues like this, etc. We’ve never taken issue with any other products that are copying our product name, in fact some of them are quite nice, we’ve only ever asked that they please name their products something unique that’s not already taken.
The reason this specific issue is possible is because of the conflict with the WordPress update API. This is the very reason there are WordPress quality guidelines and requirements: http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Review#Guidelines.
Specifically, we’re looking at this rule:
Themes must provide a unique slug for anything in the public namespace, including translation textdomain, all custom function names, classes, hooks, public/global variables, database entries (Theme options, post custom metadata, etc.)
Naturally, since we were the first Startup WordPress theme, we’ve used the slug startup. It’s important to understand that the purpose of having a unique slug is to avoid this very kind of conflict. We respect the community, consumers and the marketplace. Now, if a company were to come along and neglect others trademarks and name their product the same as another, they would most likely neglect to create a unique slug as well.
What we have here is clearly a conflict of theme names/slugs which has confused the WordPress update API.
Again, please note that we do our best to respect others in the community and marketplace and know that we’ve done all we can on our end. It’s now the responsibility of other companies to take ownership of their mistakes and correct them. And of course, you, the consumer, are the most important reason why trademark laws and guidelines like these exist and it’s your right to make a complaint if you ever think a business it displaying unfair business practices.
You may also want to make a request to any company practicing business this way where you use their products or services to do the best they can to protect yourself and their other customers from these pitfalls in the future.
Thank you again for raising these concerns and allowing us to clarify what is happening.
Hi offersnet,
Your refund has been issued.
Again, we’re deeply sorry and concerned that other companies continue to name their products the same as ours, causing these very kinds of issues.
It’s especially concerning considering that we warned these companies of these kinds of confusions that could develop immediately upon realizing these companies were using our product names prior to any issues arising.
In fact, these companies were warned well in advance much further back than 6 months, only unfortunately, some companies refuse to fix the problem regardless of the confusion it causes because of interest in the marketing value of the word “Startup”.
Considering we are the official and original Startup® (the first to use the name in this market) and have built our entire company around helping startups (the word Startup appears in the very name of our company even) you can imagine our frustration in trying to protect our brand and customers as well as other customers in the marketplace even of those companies that seem to not care about their own customers very much.
Here are a few tips to try and salvage your website:
1. Many hosts make courtesy backups automatically. You might be able to contact your host and have them restore your site to an earlier date.
2. You can check Google’s cache to retrieve important content like custom CSS that you might have added.
Hopefully this issue was limited to a small number of customers and didn’t break many more websites.
Let us know if there’s anything further we can do to help.
Thank you and good luck getting your site back up and running.
Hi offersnet,
We apologize for any confusion any other company using our product names might be causing for you and others.
We are the original and official Startup WordPress Theme. However, others continue to also use this name despite the confusion it causes and sadly we can only do so much to protect you and our brand.
We are not affiliated with any other company or product using our name nor do we endorse their use.
We don’t believe you’re one of our customers, but if you send us an email with the order # or purchase email used we can check to see if you’ve placed an order with us:
https://startupwp.com/contact/
In any case, for the trouble, we’d be happy to provide you with a free copy of StartupPro.
Hope this clarifies the situation some. We understand and sympathize with the confusion this causes.
Thank you.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/ is quite popular because anyone coming from wordpress.com to wordpress.org self-installed versions will likely pick it up as it is what’s built-in to wordpress.com sites.
It’s also made officially by WordPress so comes pre-installed in a lot of setups like Internet Explorer on Windows machines.
You’re welcome to use whatever you like of course and by all means it might be a great plugin for your use, but in our experience it’s an unnecessarily complicated plugin and has been the cause of many many conflicts over many support tickets over the years.
For subscribers, we recommend:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/subscribe2/
Never run into a problem with it yet.
As for https://wordpress.org/plugins/email-subscribers/, not familiar with it. You’ll want to post here for support:
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/email-subscribers
Thank you.
Jetpack is an overly complicated plugin that causes a lot of conflicts, we generally don’t recommend it.
Instead of using Jetpack that’s sort of 20 plugins in one, we recommend choosing individual plugins for the few features you do need, as needed.
For instance, for subscriber emails we recommend:
Ah, no worries. Happy to see you got it worked out.
You’re welcome.
In that case it’s probably an issue with the responsive design elements that make iframes, videos etc. responsive.
Link to the exact page where the iframe is placed please.
You want to prepare images before uploading them for best results.
We’re looking at:
http://www.beyondthechickencoop.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/photo-31-e1423889649380.jpg
So in additional to making sure it’s flipped in the correct intended vertical position on locally it would be a good idea to also name it something more organized/SEO-friendly like:
marinating-ground-beef.jpg
Before uploading to WordPress.
You’re welcome.
Absolutely.
Give this a try:
.widget-container li { text-indent: -19px; margin-left: 20px; padding: 2px 0; } .widget-container li:before { content: "-"; line-height: 20px; margin: 0 5px; }
Very happy to hear that. :)
Everything appears to be perfectly contained.
Is there perhaps a specific page this issue appears on or all pages?
Any chance you might be able to get a screenshot of the issue?
Looks like you have AdSense installed. This can throw off responsive design sometimes. Be sure that you’re using the responsive ad units:
Link to your site please.
You can do all that and much more out-of-the-box with StartupPro. Coming from Blogger, perhaps it’s more of an overall learning curve now working with WordPress in general that’s the problem? That’s okay, we’re here to help you learn. Once you become more familiar with WordPress and WordPress themes we think you’ll find that you have much more control over your website than on most other platforms, including Blogger.
1. Log in and go to Appearance > StartupPro Options.
2. Under “Turn On/Off Features” check the box next to “Custom Styles & Custom CSS”.
3. Scroll down to “Google Fonts” and enter Fontdiner+Swanky in the “Google Font One” field.
4. Scroll down to “Custom Styles” and under “Headers Font” add Fontdiner Swanky.
5. Scroll down to “Custom CSS” and paste in:
#site-title a, #site-title h1 a, #site-title h1 { color: #666; font-family: fontdiner swanky; font-size: 30px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-shadow: 0 1px 0 #fff; }
6. Click “Save Options”.
