I have the dropdown working, but I don’t want the main nav item to be a page.

To be specific, ‘Activities’ and ‘Roatan’ should not be a page, only open up the drop-down.

I’ve searched, but could not find anything that addresses this – probably didn’t use the right search terms.

We’ve just added a doc for this (we’ll continue to add docs as good questions like yours come up), see:

I see your info and have watched the video, but neither tells me where/how I need to add the # or javascript line.

When under Appearance > Menus you’ll see “Custom Links” on the left. Here is where you can create a menu item with whatever link and text you like.

I hadn’t looked at my site (still work in progress) for a while, and just realized that my 2 top level navigation items ‘Activities’ and ‘Roatan’ that I do not want to be clickable, are clickable again. I had applied the above solution and it worked, but no longer.

I went back to ‘Appearance’ – ‘Menus’ – ‘Custom’ of the 2 items in question, but neither the ‘#’ nor the javascript 0 line, nor oleaving the URL box empty are working.

    Help, please!!!!

WordPress updated this, try simply leaving it blank.

I tried leaving it blank – that doesn’t work, either. Any other ideas?

The problem is that you’ve set all those top menu items up with actually pages, under Appearance > Menus you want to setup custom links from “Links” there on the left.

…Never Mind — just deleted my 8 paragraph cry for help.

Turns out, it’s user error (yeah, I’m shocked, too) – turns out, somehow my “Manage Location” no longer had my actual menu assigned to the main menu, and once I did that, everything else fell into place, too.
