I’m currently using StartUp Pro 1.1.6 and would like to upgrade to 2.x – I have a few questions:
Please bear with me – I am a newbie when it comes to tech stuff, including FileZilla. Anywho, I can access my site manager in FileZilla and want to back up the current StartupPro folder in case something goes awry, but clicking on the StartupPro folder only opens it rather than allowing me to download for backup. Exactly what do I need to do to download/backup?
I have the 2.0 files unzipped and ready to upload, but am not sure what to do since the instructions seem to contradict each other. For example, the instructions given for upgrading from pro to a new version of pro state: “Upload the new theme folder over the old one overwriting/replacing it with the new files.” but the changelog from Jan 6, 2014 says “please be careful upgrading and do not upgrade directly over older versions.” I’m completely lost.
Please help! Thanks!

2. The changelog is referring to a specific time/event/version. The general upgrade instructions are still good, especially since you’re making a backup first, you should be good to just upload the new folder right over the old one.

August 26, 2014 at 10:47 AM #1818Was finally able to download startuppro folder from server to backup the files, but still cannot get version 2.0 up and running. I unzipped the original folder, opened the startuppro2.0 folder and uploaded the startuppro.zip file via FileZilla to themes folder on server. No joy.
Tried to then go through the steps given by navigating to appearance -> themes -> upload -> selected the startuppro.zip file within the unzipped package and got this message:
Installing Theme from uploaded file: startuppro.zip
Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
Destination folder already exists. /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/startuppro/
Theme install failed.
My site still has 1.1.6 installed. Please help ASAP as this is a business site!
Thanks :)
August 26, 2014 at 12:06 PM #1820Very close, just missed one step.
Make sure to unzip startuppro.zip first and upload the /startuppro/ folder over the old one in the /themes/ folder. You should get a prompt asking if you want to overwrite and click yes.
August 26, 2014 at 1:02 PM #1821It’s. Not. Working. I took the original zip file and unzipped it to get the StartupPro2.0 package. I then opened that and tried uploading the StartupPro.zip file via FileZilla to the WP themes folder as well as through the WP admin site. Deleted the uploaded .zip file from FileZilla, unzipped that zip file to get StartupPro2.0 folder, and tried transferring that to the themes folder. It placed it within the original StartupPro folder without any prompt about overwriting. Just a folder within a folder now. Tried uploading again via WP admin and continue to get the same message:
Installing Theme from uploaded file: startuppro.zip
Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
Destination folder already exists. /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/startuppro/
Theme install failed.
What am I missing?

September 11, 2014 at 1:58 PM #1870Possibly you’re still just installing an older version?
Re-download from your download link and double-check that it really is the latest version.
