I am using the StartupWP theme for my law firm’s website. I read on the Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn sites that you are only allowed to use their logos “as is” or without color. Does StartupWP have permission to use the logos for this theme? If not, how can I change them so that they are in compliance? Thank you.
May 9, 2013 at 12:36 PM #755If you’d like to use the official logos downloaded from:
Facebook: https://www.facebookbrand.com/
Twitter: https://twitter.com/logo
LinkedIn: https://developer.linkedin.com/documents/branding-guidelines
Google+: https://www.google.com/+/business/brand-guidelines.htmlYou’ll either need to:
1. If you’re using the free theme, setup a child theme and edit header.php:
https://startupwp.com/topic/child-theming/
OR
2. If you’re using the pro theme, setup the icons via your theme options as instructed under Appearance > StartupPro Options.
We can instruct further if needed.
May 31, 2013 at 3:54 PM #781I am new to WP and enjoying the ease of use of StartupWP. Would you mind elaborating on option 2 please? I can add additional icons but how do you overwrite default facebook and/or twitter logos?
May 31, 2013 at 8:34 PM #784There’s no need to overwrite/hide anything in this theme. We were very careful to only have features appear if, and only if you actually set them up.
So, just don’t use the Social Profile URLs and instead use the custom area to manually set whatever icons you like. Suspect you’re interested in upgrading, but haven’t yet? You’ll see the example right away in pro and it should make sense.
