I would very love to see another version of the grid template, which also has the 3 coloumns, but without the rearranging feature, and without positioining so all the modules start at the same height.
When i add widgets now, it creates huge empty spaces, which isnt nice at all.

We might simply want to update the current grid with Masonry (http://masonry.desandro.com/).
We’ll take a look.
In the meantime, give a plugin like this one a try:
